CityProms to take place on 8th, 9th and 10th October

This year the anniversary edition of CityProms is on 8th, 9th and 10th October. The classical music festival will be celebrating its tenth edition. The 3-day event was supposed to take place at the end of June, but – just like last year – the corona virus has thrown a spanner in the works.

Director Margot Hoiting said that they deliberately chose for the Autumn. “The chance of another cancellation due to corona is smaller than if we had chosen a date in the summer.” Because more events are moving to the (late) Autumn, the organisation didn’t want to postpone the decision to reschedule any longer.

Leeuwarden and the surrounding area’s events’ calendars are getting busier and busier. Hoiting: “We want to avoid ending up in an event traffic jam. And people need clarity. The artists, the volunteers and my colleagues within the organisation. ”

The festival’s free admission programme will be finalised shortly.

Every year around 1,500 (amateur) musicians from 104 Frisian villages and towns participate in CityProms. They work with professional musicians and orchestras from home and abroad. The core characteristic of CityProms is the way in which the festival works with so-called vulnerable groups and social organisations.
