Calefax plays ‘Un Momento Dado’

‘Un Momento Dado’ is an ode to a Dutch phenomenon: Johan Cruijff. The title is a reference to Cruijff’s idiosyncrasy and enthusiasm, qualities that composer Johan De Meij sees in Calefax and that form his inspiration for the piece. Calefax will perform this special tribute together with the renowned Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy and under the direction of chief conductor Major Jurjen Hempel. A spectacular concert by the top of Dutch wind music with an extra festive touch, because the Marinierskapel is celebrating its 75th birthday.

Biography Calefax

Calefax is a close-knit formation of five reed players who share a great passion. For thirty-five years, at home and abroad, they have maintained a reputation on the basis of virtuoso playing, brilliant arrangements and fresh stage presentation. They are considered the inventors of a new genre: the reed quintet. In doing so they inspire young wind players all over the world who follow in their footsteps. Calefax is a classical ensemble with a pop mentality.
